DONATE events – using screencasts and images to promote new service

Who:

The National Funding Scheme is a registered charity set up to enable any charitable organisation to fundraise using digital technology via their mobile giving tool called DONATE.

Brief:

To create two videos: one to support a bid application to a major charity funder (filming performance workshops and other cutaway footage at a nationally renowned arts centre), the other to promote a new service – DONATE events – designed to allow individuals to make donations to charitable organisations at live events such as galas, auctions and dinners.

Approach:

For the promotional video, I used a combination of existing images taken from one of the charity’s previous events plus screencast recordings showing how the mobile tool works. I then interviewed the founder explaining benefits of the new service and used this as the main narrative for the video.

Business training – interview and workshop filming to promote services

Who:

The Business Kitchen offers a programme of training workshops for business owners.

Brief:

To create a video to demonstrate the uniqueness of their approach and benefits for delegates who attend, incorporating some existing video clips from a taster workshop the client had held.

Approach:

I incorporated the existing video clips into a longer video and interviewed both founders to ensure important messages about the programme itself were given. I also included testimonials from delegates that highlighted the benefits they’d gained from attending the events.

Museum – event filming and voxpops

Who:

The Soldiers of Gloucestershire Museum is located in the heart of Gloucester’s historic docks.

Brief:

To create a short film of an event the museum helped to organise, in order to showcase their community involvement and promote the event for future years. They wanted to capture a sense of place and pride, and to highlight the range of family-friendly entertainment on offer.

Approach:

I filmed over the course of a single day, initially focusing on the official ceremonial aspects and then later capturing a series of voxpops from people attending the afternoon events which included a range of family-friendly entertainment and stalls.

Design company – promoting services through values and client testimonials

Who:

Culpepper & Co is a design business based in the heart of the Cotswolds – housed in the Creative Shed.

Brief:

To produce a short film to promote Culpepper & Co, showcasing client work and presenting the Shed as a homely, fun hive of creativity.

Approach:

I captured interview footage from several clients and the Culpepper team, which formed the basis of a narrative for the video. I focused on the company’s values, approach and how clients felt about the work done for them. To provide context to the dialogue, I filmed cutaway footage of the local area and shots of the team working in the Shed and wove these in.
